An 87-year-old retiree was involved in an attempted robbery that ended with the death of a criminal in the locality of Malvinas Argentinas. This is the second case in a few hours in which an elderly man kills a thief in the province of Buenos Aires.
According to the police report accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the Malvinas Command responded to Olivos Avenue 344, in Pablo Nogues, where they found a man with a gunshot wound. The homeowner, Emilio Poncho, 87 years old, informed them that he heard noises in the back of his house and upon going out saw an individual stealing objects. Upon seeing Poncho, the thief attempted to attack him with a crowbar, which led the retiree to repel the aggression with his .22 caliber rifle, causing the death of the criminal.
At the crime scene, the deceased assailant could not be identified, and the presence of forensic experts and the morgue was requested. The UFI N°19 of Malvinas Argentinas, headed by Dr. Wassouf, is conducting the investigation and has classified the case as homicide.
